Jim Grillo is a musician at heart. He taught himself guitar and spent his formative years performing for the hall masses of his church. The self-professed “original” Wedding Singer entertained at the receptions of many close friends, donning the requisite powder-blue tux and white patent shoes. He finally retired to DJ for various weddings and 90s clubs. And in 2004, he transitioned from performing at local venues and banquet halls, to creating events at Hereschicago.com, the longest running event resource and service in Chicagoland, 13 years running.
Jim Grillo, CMP, is the President and founder of Hereschicago.com. In 2008 Jim was the recipient of Illinois Meetings & Events magazine's "Supplier of the Year Hall of Fame" Award and an Emmy Award in the Alternate Media/News category for his online video coverage of "Looptopia" with the NBC 5 Chicago Street team.
In 2009, Jim was inducted into Meeting Professionals International-Chicago Area Chapter's (MPI-CAC) 2009 Hall of Fame. This prestigious honor was in recognition of his outstanding contributions to awareness, professionalism, and growth of the meetings industry.
Former president of MPI-CAC, Laurel Rhoads McCarthy labeled Jim "Mr. Hospitality" and "The LinkedIn for the Meetings and Events Industry" by Chicago area meeting professional Dahlia Ghazar.
In his spare time, Jim is a part-time actor appearing in the History Channel’s “Taking out Al Capone” and Travel Channel’s “Vacation Challenge”.
